AhlulBayt News Agency: For the first time in Vienna, the European Capital of Culture, a two-day online and in-person conference on “Iranian-Islamic Civilization; Identity, Components and Historical Glory” will be held on February 19.
According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Austria, this scientific event is aimed at explaining the identity, spiritual and philosophical dimensions of Iranian-Islamic civilization, examining the role of the Persian language in transmitting cultural heritage, and analyzing the possibility of achieving unity amidst cultural and religious diversity.
A number of prominent scholars and researchers in Iranology from Austria and Iran will deliver speeches at the opening ceremony of this conference. Also, at the opening ceremony, the book “Austrian Iranologists”, which was written and published by the Iranian Wisdom House in Vienna, will be unveiled.
Topics such as the identity and spirit of Iranian civilization, manifestations of art and architecture, the position of wisdom and philosophy, the theory of Iran city, and the mutual interaction between Shia Islam and Iran will be discussed with the participation of domestic and international researchers and scholars, and the selected papers will be published in the form of a research collection after scientific review.
Reza Gholami, Iran's Cultural Attaché in Austria and the scientific secretary of the conference, who is himself an Iranian civilization scholar, said the academic conference, in continuation of the efforts of the Iranian Cultural Center in Austria to develop Iranology, will explore various aspects of the glorious Iranian-Islamic civilization.
Considering Austria’s role in Europe as one of the centers of Iranology, it will become a turning point in cultural and scientific relations between the two countries, he stated
Gholami added that despite the efforts made in Iran and outside of Iran to expand and deepen Iranology, there are still many gaps that must be filled, especially by the leadership of Iranian scholars and researchers in world scientific circles and the interaction of Iranian and non-Iranian Iranologists.
The organizers hope that this meeting will take an effective step in deepening scientific understanding of Iranian-Islamic civilization and introducing its cultural and intellectual potential in Austria and other centers of Iranology in the world by strengthening interdisciplinary research, expanding the civilizational approach, identifying new issues in Iranology, and presenting new theoretical frameworks.
